I started my first week with Prodigy Payment Systems in the last week of November, 2007. I have always enjoyed working with small business owners as I, myself, have always worked in small businesses. Prior to working as an independent business analyst for Prodigy Payment Systems, I have had several management roles in grocery stores so I have faced many different situations with several different payment processors, most of them not so good. The reason I chose to work for Prodigy was because I felt that this company actually cares about their merchants. That is a great key that I still see as I have worked for Prodigy for approximately four months.
When I first started with this company, I felt a great paranoia of worrying about merchants being too busy for me. Well, I have come to understand that what I have to offer my merchants is much more important than just the few minutes that it takes for me to meet with them. With Prodigy as a processor, the merchant creates and maintains a better state of mind. The majority of my success has been because I have been able to relay that idea to my merchants. Other things I focus on with my clients are our superior customer service and the idea that once a merchant changes to us, they will never need to face the hassle of ever changing again. We will always keep our clients up to date with the most modern systems and the fastest and most accurate processing out there.
Concerning my actual success, I have always been a very devoted and diligent person when it pertains to my career. Prodigy has been no different. I started out with a plan of how I would approach merchants and I have stuck to it. I feel the key to success is to expect the sale when you walk into a business before you even meet your merchant. I have taken on lots of additional coaching with my team leader, Clint. Clint has been very encouraging and it has been much appreciated. The first day I was out in the field, even though I had plenty of butterflies in my stomach, I went out and wrote up my first deal at my first appointment. I then had nine consecutive days where I wrote up deals. I attribute this all to the plan that Prodigy lays out for us in our first days of training.
I have had a few dry spells, but more often than not, I continue to write up six or more deals per week. I have over seventy clients and plan to sign up several more clients in the near future. I live in rural Minnesota where good leads are difficult to get a hold of, but I will continue to make the most of each and every appointment and expect to make the sale before I even enter the business. My story of success is a story of a promise. A promise kept by Prodigy to their potential clients to offer them the best deals and the best customer service and a promise kept to me to offer me the most encouraging work atmosphere and the plan to make a difference in small businesses each and every day that I am out in the field. I started out with a plan that the company provided for me and I continue to be a fan of that plan as I see it work each and every day. |
